Look Who's Walking!

Well, Collin must have read my last blog entry about him not walking for another month and decided to stick it to me. Yet again, right when I think I know him so well, he pulls another fast one. The kid never ceases to amaze!

On Sunday he started standing alone for more than a couple seconds, which was very exciting in itself. That must have been all he needed to solidify his balance (and his confidence) because yesterday while I was making dinner, Jeff was helping him practice standing and suddenly he took a step! Jeff called me over, and we watched him take another . . . and another . . . within five minutes he was running back and forth across the room from one parent's arms to another. It was so exciting!

We are so proud of Collin. He has gone so long being the only kid crawling while all the others hover over him. He never seemed to mind, but now I am sure he will enjoy moving instantaneously from the shortest kid to one of the tallest. Watch out, world!

A Shout Out

So, I have been having a lot of fun learning about photography. I have started a Flickr page where you can see some of my favorites. I'll be posting there a lot so check it out when you get some time. You can find the link in our left sidebar under the heading Favorite Links. --Jeff

The Magic of Helium

Collin was cracking me up the other day when he discovered that the balloon we got from the grocery store could rise up to the ceiling. I kept giving it back to him only for him to dramatically let go of it again and point at it, laughing hysterically. Eventually I just left it up on the ceiling, and he kept pointing to it and making noises like, "Hey Mom, check it out!" and then "Hey Mom, are you gonna get that?" Finally he took matters into his own hands. He grabbed his car and rolled it over so he had something lean on in order to reach the balloon's string. (Yeah, I know, our kid's a genius.) I caught the end of it on video.

Also, for the record, he will be 18 months next week and he's holding out on the walking thing. (And between you and me, I think it's going to be at least another month before he takes his first solo steps.) We're at the point now where we're seeing how long he will last before he gives in. I didn't walk until I was 21 months old, which is the longest I've ever heard of, but I think Collin is determined to beat me!

Season of Change

We (aka I--hence the pink) decided to give our blog a face lift. Feel free to leave a little comment and let us know what you think! (Unless you hate it, then just humor me and write a nice comment anyway!)

Four Years and Counting

Yesterday was our fourth wedding anniversary! I am so grateful to be married to Jeff. We are both what I like to call conservative thrill seekers. On Saturday we celebrated our never-ending love in true Floridian style. Check it out:

That's right, we took a short drive up to Pompano Beach for some parasailing action.
FYI, that last picture isn't a crash, it's a dip! We got dipped into the water three times in a row. On the first dip, Jeff took it upon himself to get me thoroughly wet by splashing me to death. The subsequent dips were then all-out water fights! It was good times.

Last night, on our true anniversary, we went to Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. After Johnson and Johnson referred it to us, we went there with my mom last month and decided it's our current favorite restaurant. The Accidental Fish and Shrimp is highly recommended, we say! And Collin promised to be on his best behavior, so we took him, too. His favorite dish was sweet potato puffs.

I really love my husband. He is so great. We are truly best friends. I'm glad that we found each other and stuck together. Life is so much easier, happier, and fulfilling now that I get to see him every day. And of course, if it weren't for him I'd have no Collin! So for that I am doubly grateful. (Lifting the lemonade glass.) Here's to you, honey! :Chink::
